A mad lab of confectionery goods, Koffeteria is the invention of pastry chef Vanarin Kuch returning to his hometown of Houston, TX after a long stint in New York and Chicago. A mix of admiration for mid-century design sensibilities and tongue-in-cheek humor, the goal for the brand was creating the perfect backdrop to showcase all the yummy treats. A palette for the palate, if you will.

THE CHALLENGE
In a sea of cutesy or ultra-modern coffee and pastry shops, the need to stand out is paramount. In opening his first bakeshop, the pastry chef/owner asked for something approachable and fun - pretty much a reflection of his own personality.
THE APPROACH
With such whimsical recipes, such as beef pho kolaches and hot cheeto croissants, it was important to capture the essence of Koffeteria's spirit and Vanarin's creativity. The elements aimed to be as bold as the flavors, but not overshadow the goods.
THE DESIGN
Mid-century delicious
Obsessed with mid-century furniture and the simple boldness of the 50's, Koffeteria's color palette and type choice are centered on being classic, but friendly. The colors drew from design posters of the era, flat but vibrant and the wordmark simply punctuated with a bold dot.
